The term resilience can be divisive. At its core, resilience is all about having the capacity to withstand difficulties or to recover quickly from them. However, in the context of our work, promoting resilience can often feel like employers are shifting responsibility and accountability back to the employee – and therefore absolving itself of responsibility.

This page serves to provide colleagues who are interested in increasing their capacity to be resilient with the resources, tips and tools to do so. However, it is important to note that as a workplace, we understand the significant of the role we play in creating, building or maintaining that capacity.

Accordingly, balancegateshead.com has been designed with a wealth of resources across all elements of wellbeing that are designed to help you tackle core issues – those that have a significant impact of your experience at work, and which can help you to have the headspace and buoyancy to overcome the challenging and complex experiences we are exposed to and come across in our day-to-day work.

To that end, in the context of resilience Gateshead Health focuses on the provision of more practical support and the availability of services that can help implement change which can help to shape and alter staff experiences. Additionally, we do not offer any internal ‘resilience training’ as it is our belief that doing so may send the wrong message and could encourage leaders to push responsibility towards the wrong place, rather than focusing on tackling and resolving issues that are impacting teams.

Nevertheless, in the understanding that some colleagues may prefer to access support through the form of a course or workshop, this page is home to opportunities, workshops and toolkits provided by external providers. To learn more, just scroll down!
