Gateshead Leisure Centre

Gateshead Leisure Centre re-opened in June 2024, and is offering all #TeamGateshead colleagues the chance to join on a monthly rolling contract for the cost of just £26.99 per month – a saving over £7 per month. All that is required is a your NHS ID Card. Colleagues can also enjoy concession prices on production of a Blue Light Discount Card.

Everlast Gym - MetroCentre

Better Leisure Centres and Gyms

Better operate six leisure centres across Newcastle upon Tyne on behalf of Newcastle City Council, at:

NHS staff members can take advantage of an exclusive price of £24.95 per month (normally £34.65) which includes full access to gym, swimming, racquet sports (1 court per day) and all fitness classes across all of the 6 Newcastle leisure centres.

To sign up for the exclusive NHS membership, please bring proof of your NHS employment into a Better, Newcastle Leisure Centre. The proof such as a pay slip, or headed letter needs to be less than 3 months old to qualify. You can also test a Better facility out with a free one-day pass.

NRG Newcastle

Located at Newcastle Business Park up the top of Shields Road, NRG Newcastle is Newcastle’s largest gym at more than 45,000 square feet and is home to high quality equipment designed to help you in your fitness journey, regardless of your experience or goals.

Included in memberships is 24/7 access, a packed schedule of classes, a dedicated boxing zone and female only area, a spin studio, saunas, free parking, WiFi and more.

Gateshead Health colleagues should take advantage of lower-cost first-month pricing online before contacting NRG with a copy of their NHS ID for your discount to be added in future months. Alternatively, you can visit the club itself with your ID and produce this when joining.

The Gym Group

The Gym Group are offering 10% off monthly memberships for NHS Staff, along with no joining fee for those who request a unique voucher code. Voucher codes can be accessed free through Health Service Discounts. If you have a Blue Light Card, you’ll also be able to generate a code through their app or website.

Memberships at The Gym include unlimited free classes, highly qualified personal trainers and 24/7 access to facilities.

North Tyneside Leisure Centres - Contours

NHS staff can access North Tyneside Leisure Centres (Waves, Hadrian, Tynemouth, Lakeside or the Parks) for £25.50 per month on production of relevant ID.  You will not need to pay any admin/joining fee at the point of signing up. Members who take up this offer will be committing to a rolling 12 month contract, however this can be frozen at any point if you are unable to use it for an extended period.

A contours membership gives you unlimited access to all 5 sites for gym, swim and a health spa area at Tynemouth Pool. Contours also have live exercise classes and virtual ones too – so there are plenty to choose from!

Those signing up with Contours also have the option of 3 free inductions as a members and regular free programmes and assessments which are all free of charge.

Hot Pod Yoga - Gateshead
