As outlined within the manager’s guide for dealing with employee conflict, mediation is the only form of conflict resolution which allows the participants themselves to define their problems, issues and needs and work towards the creation and implementation of their own agreed solutions and changes.
The mediation process is voluntary and informal, as well as completely confidential, and is facilitated using controlled communications to ensure a safe and productive experience for those involved. Mediation focuses on respectful listening, identification of issues and rebuilding work relationships – and steers clear of blame, history and/or vindication.
