How does the tool work?

It should be noted that while this diagram outlines the typical process, your approach to the TED Tool can be flexible to suit individual needs.

Generally speaking, and as outlined in the diagram, the TED Tool follows a typical process which is generally triggered by a team leader’s request. After attending a training session on TED, the leader will enrol their team and prompt their team to complete the TED Diagnostic.

On completion from the team, the leader will download a report and work with the OD Team to consider next steps. During those steps, the leader will facilitate a team session to develop meaningful actions from the feedback, with the chance for further bespoke support from the OD team available. An action plan will cover agreed change, with further team development offers available to support their implementation.

After either 6 or 12 months, the teams will be asked to complete the TED diagnostic once more, allowing for impact to be assessed.

TED aims to empower staff and place team members at the centre of decision-making. Team leaders benefit through a structured framework to work through, as well as a toolkit for managing high performance and a more engaged team. Elsewhere, the organisation benefits through a standardised approach to engagement measurement, better patient outcomes and improved staff satisfaction.

As outlined in the graphic, further benefits of engaging in TED include flexibility, repeatability, control and a more targeted approach that ensures your team is in focus.

Resources Portal

Also available to team leaders and team members engaging in TED is the TED Resources Portal, which is host to a range of tools, resources and information.

Aimed at improving knowledge through an evidence-based approach; supporting team development through the provision of tools, guides and templates; and raising awareness through signposting of connected strategies and work, the resources portal is free for all participants to access at any time.

Resources held in the portal pertain to the team working areas outlined in the graphic, namely communication, leadership, valuing individuals, working with other teams, reviewing & celebrating success, team purpose, working together and engagement.
