Today marks the 75th Birthday of the NHS! To help mark the occasion from a health and wellbeing perspective, over the last month we’ve been running the #NHS75 Step Count Challenge with dozens of teams across Gateshead Health joining in. Today, we’re pleased to announce our winners!

In our 7000 step target league, The Troopers managed to pip This Means WAR-Farin in the final week, racking up a massive 1,751,521 steps.

ECG Girls stepped up (if you’ll forgive the pun) in the final week to rocket from 5th to 1st in the 10,000 target daily steps finishing with a 2,201,416 to top Stunners Doing Steps by around 13,000 steps.

And finally, in our 13,000 league, Ward 26 Too Inspired to be Tired were the only team to keep hold of their Week 3 lead, finishing on a monumental 3,526,341 steps.

We’d like to congratulate all of our winning teams, and we’ll be in touch with team captains shortly to arrange handover of a prize. We’d also like to thank all colleagues who took part in this year’s challenge for helping make it our most successful yet – with the most participants, most teams and most steps made – a whopping 101,002,508!

Those who’d like to keep up their step counts are reminded of the Walking Club which meets at 12:30pm daily outside the Windy Nook entrance, which anyone is free to join. We also encourage teams to set up a Walking Club that might work better for them – whether that means at a different time, location of otherwise – just give us a shout if you need help building promotional materials for it.
