A new six-week group menopause support programme is being launched by the NENC ICS Staff Wellbeing Hub team, and is available to access free for #TeamGateshead colleagues.

If you find that the menopause is causing symptoms such as a negative impact your mood, added anxiety or brain fog, draining your energy, disturbing your sleep, hot flushes or sweats and you’re looking for help in managing these, the group may be of help to you.

The group is a six-week programme which will be ran via Teams and led by two Staff Wellbeing Hub therapists – Lesley Armitage, Principal Psyschologist as well as Cate Moorhead, Senior Psychological Therapist.

During the programme, three strands of intervention will aid those suffering from symptoms – cognitive behavioural therapy, compassion-focused therapy and a mindfulness-based approach. It is hoped that combining the three will support the reduction of stress and anxiety around symptoms and experiences of the menopause, help to create opportunities to reconnect with compassion for ourselves and our bodies and to learn ways of approaching the menopause with wisdom and confidence.

When is the course?
The programme will see sessions take place between 1:00pm – 3:00pm via Teams on the following dates:

  • Thursday 13th April
  • Thursday 20th April
  • Thursday 27th April
  • Thursday 11th May
  • Thursday 18th May; and
  • Thursday 25th May
