This month’s congratulations are shared between Kerry Maddison, Elaine Foster and Beth Hunter, who have all been named by the Executive Team as co-winners of Star of the Month for May 2023.

The trio, who work in the Mortuary, were nominated by Dawn Orr and recently received a voucher for their outstanding work as a token of thanks for going over and above.

The nomination – why Kerry, Elaine and Beth are stars:

“Unfortunately, my friend’s 21 year old daughter died unexpectantly in Asia from DVTs, and it took several weeks to get her repatriated to the UK. She was brought to South Tyneside Mortuary in a terrible state as her hair was matted, and they had painted her face – she was unrecognisable.

“Kerry’s team facilitated an early Post-mortem and ensured that she was washed, and new make-up applied so that she was in a fit state for her parents to view her. The local undertaker had advised against this previously, however, could not believe the difference in her appearance once our team had taken care of her.”

A thanks goes to the trio in Mortuary for their outstanding efforts, going over and above to support a family in the most difficult of times. We’d also like to place on record our thanks to Dawn for the nomination and making us aware of this great example.
