Gateshead Older Person’s Association is offering free taster sessions for those aged 50 and above. Included amongst the opportunities are physical activities, social activities and more.

Tai Chi:
Classes for Tai Chi will kick off on 7th February and will be held weekly on Tuesdays between 3:30pm – 4:30pm, free to attend all the way through to 4th March. For more info, please call Dave on 07909 715202.

Boxing:
A free programme of sessions for those who’d like to give boxing a go through trianing sessions that take place every Tuesday and Thursday (between 12:30pm – 1:30pm) will kick off on 24th January and is free to attend right up until 2nd March. Learn to play instruments:
Never Too Old To Rock is a group that meets weekly between 5:30pm – 7:30pm at Gateshead OPA (Deckham). To learn to play guitar, drums or bass free of charge, contact Craig on 0191 438 1721.

Home workouts:
Free low-impact workouts can be accessed from the comfort of your own home through Zoom with free Active at Home classes every Friday between 9:30am – 10:15am. To register, please email [email protected].

Cinema tickets:
Each month Gateshead OPA will be offering free tickets to a film at Vue Trinity Square in Gateshead. Tickets are available on a first come first served basis and can be obtained from the Gateshead OPA base in Deckham.

Line dancing:
Free beginner and intermediate line dancing sessions are available to attend through January at Gateshead OPA’s base in Deckham. No partner is needed and sessions are a great way to stay in shape. Beginner sessions take place between 10:00am – 10:45am on Fridays, with intermediate sessions between 11:00am – 11:45am. For more info, please contact Victoria on 07498 357 858.
