About Leading Forward

Our leadership and management framework is designed in line with servant leadership methodology to deliver clinically led and managerially supported principles of decision making, underpinned by compassionate and inclusive behaviours.

It’s available to all leaders and managers at the Trust and QEF, regardless of experience, banding or whether you are clinical or non-clinical.  There is also development available for aspiring managers, so if you’re thinking about taking the next step in your career, we can support you to do that too.

This new framework takes a bespoke approach – after you attend a mandatory on-boarding day, you’ll then self-assess against the relevant learning pathway for your level of experience, and you’ll design your own individual learning pathway.

About the on-boarding day

As outlined, all participants of Leading Forward will take part in an onboarding day. During this day, we’ll cover:

• Servant leadership
• Clinically led and management supported
• ICORE compassionate and inclusive behaviours
• Psychological safety
• Self-assessment of leadership capability to inform your individual learning pathway

About your learning pathway

Your learning pathway will consist of modules which fall into 7 domains. More information about each specific module is shared during the onboarding day, and you’ll be able to select the domains that are most relevant to you – with the self-assessment of leadership capability helping inform your decisions on which domains to focus in on.

The 7 domains are as follows:

• People management skills
• Inclusivity
• Wellbeing
• Teamwork
• Operational management
• Continuous improvement
• Clinical lead development (specifically aimed at clinical service leads)

Once you’ve heard more about the modules that will make up your individual learning pathway, you’ll discuss and agree which ones will be your focus with your line manager. Once agreed, you’ll have 18 months to complete your chosen modules, with the support from a team who’ll check in with you throughout to help keep you on track.

To apply to attend a Leading Forward onboarding day, you’ll need to complete the dedicated expression of interest form. You will need to obtain the permission of your line manager prior to completing this form.
