D-Ability Network

Our D-Ability Staff Network aims to support staff with both visible and invisible disabilities, and look to encourage respect, dignity and equality for all by furthering a positive culture around disability and long-term conditions at Gateshead Health, acting as a safe point of contact for all and identifying, raising and driving positive changes.

The Network meets monthly on the second Wednesday of each month at 1:00pm via Microsoft Teams, and membership is open to all. To join or get more information, just drop a line to [email protected].

Neurodiversity

Our dedicated Neurodiversity webpage includes a range of useful resources, including information on Learning Disability and Autism Awareness Training on offer from the organisation’s Learning & Development Team, further information on how Health Passports and Stress Risk Assessments can support you in staying well at work and more on how you can access to support through Maximus.

Also signposted to here are a range of local support organisations, including North East Autism Society, The Toby Henderson Trust, Inspired Support and Citizens Advice Gateshead.

Access to Work

Access to Work is there to help those with a physical or mental health condition or disability, and can help you to access and apply for grants to pay for practical support with your work (such as specialist equipment and assistive software or physical changes to your workplace) and support in managing your mental health at work.

The Patients Association

In addition to advice around useful questions to ask your GP around your long-term condition, The Patients Association also provide info and support around mental wellbeing, relationships, employment, housing, education, money, self-management and much more.

Newcastle Gateshead Clinical Commissioning Group

The Newcastle Gateshead CCG have put together some guidance for patience, outlining what kind of support you can expect from your GP and how they’ll monitor your long-term condition year by year.
