Peer Support Sessions
A number of charities offer regular free facilitated peer support sessions that are targeted at NHS staff. Amongst these include:
- Doctors in Distress’ Weekly Support Group: A group for all healthcare professionals which takes place every Wednesday via Zoom between 12:30pm – 1:30pm, and provides a space for participants to chat informally and confidentially with other healthcare professionals around themes led by the group. Topics can include but aren’t limited tp things like stress, burnout and self-care. No booking is needed, just express your interest via the Eventbrite page or by emailing [email protected].
- You Okay Nurse?: A virtual safe space for nurses to chat in a private group, facilitated by an accredited therapist. Huddles take place weekly for an hour over Zoom and are free. Registration is required and can be completed on their website. You can also test YON to 85258 for confidential support over text.
- You Okay Doc?: Providing a safe space to discuss the challenges of being a doctor or a medical student through their weekly huddle on Zoom, every Wednesday at 7:00pm. To register and check out upcoming huddles, visit their website where you’ll also find further support & resources.
- British Doctors and Dentists Group: The BDDG offers a recovery group for doctors and dentists with addictions, with meetings both physical and online. To learn more about the group visit our addictions webpage.
