All Occupational Health referrals should be completed through their dedicated referral forms. You can find out more about which referral form to use to access each individual service below.

If you have any queries about referrals, please contact us on [email protected] or call 0191 445 5494. Our opening hours can be seen on the contact us page.

Pausing self-referrals to Occupational Health (excluding Physiotherapy and Ergonomics):

Providing a high quality, responsive and timely occupational health service is important to us however, due to the increasing number of referrals that we are receiving, our waiting times for nursing appointments are much longer than we’d like them to be.  In order to give us an opportunity to bring these waiting times down, we have temporarily paused accepting self-referrals for Occupational Health services outside of Physiotherapy and Ergonomics. Referrals for Physiotherapy and Ergonomics continue to be accepted, as normal, through their dedicated referral forms.

Changes to the Occupational Health Counselling service:

As outlined in our news item, feedback and recent review of the counselling provision within Occupational Health has led to the introduction of a number of changes to how and when colleagues access the service. With immediate effect, the counselling service is now available for members of staff with work-related issues, and can be accessed by management referral (although no reports are created for and shared with managers for referrals to the Counselling service). For more information on how to do refer, visit the Counselling page or continue to read on below.
