The Trust has received notification that the weekly Fruit & Veg stall brought on-site at Gateshead Health by our friends at Passion4Fruits will soon depart on a permanent basis.

A decision was taken to remove the stall after Passion4Fruits received an offer to build a permanent stall at another one of their weekly residencies. At this site, sales tend to far exceed what they do at Gateshead Health and with winter approaching which causes sales to drop in any case.

As a result, Passion4Fruits took the decision both in the interests of their business – but also at the benefit of their staff, who’ll benefit from better facilities in their permanent stall and a setup that is ultimately a little more prepared for the rough weather winter can bring. Due to sales numbers at Gateshead, a permanent stall at the QE Hospital was not a viable option.

Both the health and wellbeing team as well as the Passion4Fruits team would like to thank colleagues for their support of the stall during the year it has spent on-site at the QE Hospital. The health and wellbeing team will now discuss options with QE Facilities to see whether there might be other ways to increase access to healthier options on-site.
