A new six-week yoga programme, launched by the NENC ICS Staff Wellbeing Hub, will provide colleagues with the opportunity to enjoy face-to-face yoga sessions at Newcastle University, starting from Wednesday 8th February between 5:30pm – 6:30pm.
Spaces for the programme are limited so colleagues are advised to book quickly to avoid disappointment. Sixteen places remain available at the time of writing. Please book via the button below, using the password NUYoga23. Just select ‘Face to Face Yoga at Newcastle University with Jessi Komes.
The six-week programme combines gentle movement, breathwork and guided meditations to help feel grounded and present in the body. The main focus of sessions is to support feeling and sensing rather than thinking and analysing in order to allow for some rest away from the business of every-day life. Yoga’s combination of breath and movement has been shown to support physical and mental wellbeing.
The programme sets out to support mental health professionals who dedicate most of their time caring for the wellbeing of others – and the hourly sessions will offer a space for being rather than doing. Sessions will involve completing Heart Rate Variability data combined with questionnaires in helping us understand the impact of this offer.
Sessions will be led by Jessi Komes taking place at David Shaw Foyer, in the Medical School (take main entrance then look for signs or ask at reception, Newcastle University, Framlington Place, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE2 4HH). Participants are asked to wear comfy clothing, bring some water for a drink and if possible a yoga mat.
