If your home has been affected by a riot in light of recent civil unrest across the country, you might be relieved to know that the government is making it easier for you to claim back damages.
The Riot Compensation Act allows victims of criminal damage or loss the right to compensation and is designed to help communities recover quickly from the impact of rioting. This means if your property is not adequately insured, you can claim compensation from the local police claims authority.
To qualify for compensation, you must be able to demonstrate that the loss or damage caused was as a result of rioting. Please not that not all instances of damage or loss that occur during a period of civil disturbance will meet the criteria for compensation.
