Organised by the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care System (NENC ICS) Staff Wellbeing Hub team, GemArts will deliver Cultural Threads – an arts, health and wellbeing programme led by professional artists across diverse art forms.

All sessions are free to attend, but must be booked in advance. Upcoming sessions include:

Chinese Watercolour Painting with Dr Chun-Chao Chiu:

The first six sessions for this commence on Monday 6th June, between 7:00pm – 8:30pm. A second six will commence on Tuesday 7th June between the same times.

These sessions will include an introduction to paints, tools and materials, and will help you to develop creative skills in Chinese brush painting as well as teaching you how to paint landscapes, flowers and animals.

Tai Chi with Wendy Chan:

A low-impact, free-flowing form of meditative movement, Tai Chi helps bring calm and peace of mind whilst exercising the body to enhance the flow of ‘Qi’.

Tai Chi sessions will start Thursday 9th June, between 11:00am – 12:00pm, and will go on for six weeks.

Visual Arts from Around the World with Jayamini De Silva:

Jayamini’s class will also start on Thursday 9th June, this time between 1:00pm – 2:30pm, and will enable you to take a creative trip across the world.

These sessions, which go on for six weeks, will help you develop skills in Dot Mandala painting, origami, aboriginal art, Chinese calligraphy, henna painting and more.
